Clitheroe Golf Club was formed in November 1891 and moved to its present site in 1932. The generosity of the Southworth family made possible the erection of a fine imposing clubhouse building, as well as the establishment of an outstanding 18 hole golf course.

Other facilities include a fully operational halfway house situated behind the 9th green, a  starters' hut at the 1st and the Southworth room, a modern conference and meeting room venue overlooking the course. This room houses the Club’s extensive collection of artefacts and a pictorial library of the history of Clitheroe Golf Club.

The club's continuous drive to be one of the best parkland courses in the North West has in recent years  seen all 18 greens being re-modelled and re-built to USGA standards, offering members and vistors the best of playing conditions all year round.

Ongoing developments include a covered 10-bay driving range, complete with teaching bay, swing room and short game practice facility.  Due for completion in Spring 2021, this will confirm Clitheroe's status as one of the region's leading golf courses.
